Dr. Nikolai Sopko obtained his MD with honors from Case Western Reserve University and PhD in stem cell biology at the Cleveland Clinic as a graduate of the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. He is a board-certified urologist and completed his surgical training at the Johns Hopkins James Buchanan Brady Urologic Institute as a Physician Scientist Scholar where he focused on tissue engineering with gene therapy as well as tumor immune biology. He has over 70 published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is a Principal Investigator on an active NIH SBIR Phase grant. Dr. Sopko leads product and assay development as well as the clinical research department, which includes the successful completion of five trials and overseeing PolarityTE’s ongoing pivotal trial.
